A brand-new chart from Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel is showing which cards are the most popular in the game right now, including one counter to a meta deck seeing a big rise. Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel features a massive lineup of more than 10,000 cards for players to choose from, with more being added each month through new Selection Packs and Secret Packs. The game also features a variety of different ways for players to acquire cards in-game, between the many packs and Master Duel‘s robust crafting system. However, some cards have always stood above the rest in the digital TCG.
Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel has always been home to a suite of powerful cards that often crop up in many different decks. Hand Trap cards have typically been seen as essential parts of competitive strategies, including cards like “Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring,” “Infinite Impermanence,” and the notorious “Maxx C” among others. Master Duel‘s Extra Deck has also been home to dominant staple cards like “S:P Little Knight” and “Accesscode Talker.” Now, a new chart is showing a surprising new addition to the most-played cards.

Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel is officially rolling out a major change to the card crafting system, focused around dismantling newly-banned cards.
A new chart shared by prominent Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel account Master Duel Guide is showing the most-played cards in the game for July 2025. While the previously-mentioned Maxx “C” and Ash Blossom & Joyous Spring continue to maintain their position atop the Master Duel rankings, “Artifact Lancea” has made a major jump to 3rd place with an 83.4% play rate. Called by the Grave and S:P Little Knight round out the top 5 cards, serving as the last two cards boasting play rates above 70% in Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel.
Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel Reveals Most-Played July 2025 Cards

The rise of Artifact Lancea in Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel comes as the card’s significant spike is owed to one of the game’s newest decks. The addition of Maliss quickly saw the versatile and resilient Link Monster-focused deck take over Master Duel‘s competitive meta, similar to its status in the physical TCG. Artifact Lancea serves as one of the most effective counters to the deck, cutting off the ability to banish cards that makes up the core of the Maliss deck’s gameplay. Artifact Lancea’s rise likely also contributed to the increased numbers for “Crossout Designator,” which can negate Lancea’s effects.
The dominance of Maliss in Yu-Gi-Oh Master Duel will soon be joined by another powerful strategy on the way. Konami is expected to introduce the “Ryzeal” strategy to the game within the coming months, with the Xyz Monster-focused deck battling for supremacy with Maliss in the physical TCG. The powerful “Mitsurugi” Ritual theme will also likely see its debut soon, with the deck coming out not long after Maliss and Ryzeal. Master Duel looks set for a major shake-up with plenty of powerful decks coming soon.
