Patch Notes for PS4, PC, and Xbox

The world of Astroneer continues to evolve with the arrival of Update 1.76, now live on PS4, Steam, Xbox, and PC. This patch aims to enhance gameplay by addressing several issues that players have been facing, notably around megastructure stability, item interaction, and multiplayer fixes. Today, we’ll dive into the specifics of this update and how it improves the Astroneer experience.

Key Enhancements in Update 1.76

Megastructure Stability

One of the primary focuses of this update is the stability of megastructures. Players have reported issues related to launching and interacting within their meticulously crafted constructions. Here’s how this update tackles those issues:

  • DLS and Construction Anchors: The update resolves persistent bugs, such as the launch-tube indicator light unexpectedly resetting from blue to green after a reload. Furthermore, frame drops when launching certain construction anchors have been patched, eliminating lag that disrupted gameplay.

  • Orbital Platform Improvements: Significant fixes have been implemented to restore previous functionalities and enhance the player experience on the Orbital Platform. Notably, Museum collection perks have been reinstated, and bugs causing players to fall through the floor have been resolved. Additionally, interactions with objects in orbit have been streamlined to improve usability after a reload.

Addressing Intermodal Terminal and Biodome Issues

The Intermodal Terminal also received attention:

  • The update ensures that players can now interact seamlessly with items upon reloading. Prior, a few bugs interfered with these interactions, impacting gameplay flow.

The Biodome and printers have experienced their share of fixes as well. There’s now a visual enhancement, with wireframes on Medium Storages no longer visible when attached to Biodomes. This small change contributes substantially to visual clarity and immersive gameplay.

Multiplayer and Item Interaction Fixes

Astroneer’s multiplayer mode has always been a highlight, and this update further refines it:

  • The update synchronizes Musical Mushroom tones across players, creating a more harmonious gaming experience while exploring together. However, players using accounts without the Megatech DLC will no longer find the Musical Mushroom in Creative mode, curating a more balanced environment.

  • Players previously dealt with leftover walkway surfaces after stowing them during multiplayer sessions. This issue has been resolved, solidifying the game’s focus on cooperative play without annoyances.

General Gameplay Improvements

In addition to specific bug fixes, Update 1.76 introduces a series of general improvements:

  • Missing text strings have been added in custom-game research settings, enhancing user experience when adjusting game parameters.
  • Legacy printers now have the capability to produce Large Gas Canisters and Large Fluid & Soil Canisters, expanding resource management options for players.
  • Some minor quality-of-life issues have also been resolved, such as correcting the offset icon signs and removing unintended shadows cast by drilling and paving cursors.

Previous Updates and Ongoing Challenges

Astroneer has seen a series of updates leading up to this one, notably Update 1.49, which introduced Custom Games. This feature allowed players to personalize their gameplay experience significantly. However, players continue to report lingering issues, confirming that while improvements keep coming, there’s always more to be done.

Players can download the free Astroneer Update 1.76 now on their preferred platforms. With a focus on enhancing the core mechanics and multiplayer functionality, this update stands as another testament to the developers’ commitment to refining the Astroneer universe. Whether you’re a seasoned explorer or just stepping into the cosmic landscape, the latest fixes promise a more enjoyable experience.
