Hades 2 Delivers One Last Early Access Update Before Launching 1.0 PC games

Hades 2 Delivers One Last Early Access Update Before Launching 1.0

Just a few weeks ago, Supergiant Games rolled out its final Hades 2 update ahead of its 1.0 launch. But given just how revered its predecessor was, Hades 2 must strive for absolute perfection if it wants to outdo the original. So, Supergiant is squeezing in a last-minute patch for the game, but sadly, there’s still no word on when the 1.0 date will be.

Even throughout its early access journey, Hades 2 has captivated players deeply enough to earn a spot on our best roguelikes list. Though unfinished, it remains a mesmerizing experience that many players find worthwhile. However, it’s understandable that some gamers may prefer to hold off their purchase until the official 1.0 launch is announced. The moment seems imminent, with Patch 10 dropping at the start of July and already followed by Patch 11 just three weeks later.

This latest update isn’t groundbreaking in a way that adds unexpected new content, but it does introduce highly welcome improvements and final balance tweaks as the game gears up for the anticipated 1.0 release.

Three weapons have undergone significant adjustments in this patch. The Umbral Flames’ projectile size and orbit speed have both seen enhancements. Meanwhile, the Moonstone Axe has enjoyed increased damage for its Attack sequences, and the Black Coat’s blocking mechanism is now more responsive when executing the Omega Attack. Additionally, seven weapon Aspects have taken a turn under the balancing microscope, though I’ll refrain from elaborating to avoid spoiling any surprises for those still exploring their Hades 2 journey.

In a broader scope, over 20 Boons and Blessings have received careful rebalancing or improvements, including divine adjustments for gods like Zeus, Poseidon, and Icarus.

Additionally, players will notice revamped features for Toula, the Cat, one of Hades 2’s Animal Familiars. She now offers enhanced bonuses from Familiar Bonds, along with improvements in innate movement speed, pounce accuracy, and active time between naps. Players will also be relieved to find that she is less likely to get stuck on obstacles, making her companionship even more enjoyable.

Moreover, several enemy encounters have been fine-tuned. Notably, the overall number of fights players will experience in Mount Olympus and the Summit has been scaled down. While Hades 2 is anchored in its reputation for being a challenging roguelike, the developers recognized that the difficulty level was becoming excessively punishing in the late-game areas. To further assist players in their adventures, “several locations on Olympus now feature more cover options against enemy fire.”

This summary merely scratches the surface of the extensive changes brought forth in Patch 11. For those keen on ensuring their favorite builds remain effective, comprehensive patch notes can be reviewed here.

This update appears poised to be the definitive one before the grand unveiling of the full 1.0 Hades 2 release date. In the message accompanying the patch notes, Supergiant posits that “as the Fates would have it, there is indeed this one more,” hinting at no further surprises—except for perhaps the revelation of the much-anticipated 1.0 date. With Gamescom around the corner, the hope lingers that we may hear something exciting then.
