Dying Light 2 Update 1.90/1.090 Released on March 4th

Techland has silently rolled out a new game update for Dying Light 2: Stay Human today, March 4. While we can’t confirm updates for every platform, the PS4 and PS5 versions have indeed received updates, bringing the zombie survival game to Dying Light 2 version 1.90/1.090 for respective consoles.

What’s New in the Update?

This is primarily a minor patch, but it comes at a crucial time as the Dying Light 2 community continues to battle hordes of the undead to reach the Outbreak community target. Unfortunately, Techland hasn’t provided any official information about the contents of this update, which is a bit curious given the studio’s usual transparency regarding game changes.

Speculation suggests that this patch may include technical fixes or adjustments leading up to the final dispatch in the Quarantine Zone.

Daytime Outbreak Challenge

For players engaged in the ongoing Daytime Outbreak Challenge, the last 48 hours have unleashed an extra layer of difficulty. During this final stretch, daytime Volatiles—fierce and unlike their nighttime counterparts—patrol the infected districts alongside Elemental Goons and Demolishers. Expect relentless pressure from these formidable enemies, but there’s a silver lining! As you cut your way through the chaos, you may find elemental weapons dropping in the field—definitely an incentive to push through the tougher moments.

Moreover, players can also bask in an experience boost of 2.5x for the duration of this event. A new buff that enhances overall damage has also been activated, and the stamina boost remains in effect, making this a critical time for players to maximize their gameplay.

Community Goals and Engagement

Currently, the community is striving to meet a target of 5 million kills. As of now, about 2.4 million kills are still needed to hit that milestone, prompting a call for help on the game’s Steam page. Players are actively rallying to exceed this goal and reap the rewards.

Tips for Maximizing Kills

  • Which kills count? Target light blue hazmat zombies in zones marked with biohazard symbols—these can be viewed on the in-game map.
  • To amplify your efforts, utilize howlers to summon hazmat runners without actually killing them. Move away after triggering them to maximize your kills.

If you find yourself lost when trying to locate East Borough, note that you might need to complete a specific action in the main story campaign. In the meantime, focus on eliminating light blue hazmat zombies in Quarry End and Garrison.

Rewards Await

Reaching the 5 million kill milestone will reward players with the coveted GRE Pistol, while reaching 6.5 million will unlock a currently undisclosed bonus. As the challenge heats up, community efforts will be crucial in attaining these rewards.
