Xbox Games console exclusives Gears of War: E-Day and State of Decay 3 are said to be coming to the PS5, according to a newly emerged report. The purported ports would mark a continuation of Microsoft’s multi-platform push, which has already seen it release plenty of Xbox games on rival consoles.
In early 2024, Microsoft began shifting away from console exclusivity with the goal of starting to adopt a more traditional third-party publishing model. Since then, the company has ported more than a dozen titles to Xbox rival consoles. Most recently, Tony Hawk’s Pro Skater 3 + 4 was treated to a same-day release on the PS4, PS5, and Switch on July 11.

Founding Member of Xbox Team Is Concerned About Cross-Platform Strategy
One of the founding members of the Xbox project outlines some well-articulated concerns about Microsoft’s cross-platform strategy.
This trend will soon continue with several more Xbox titles coming to PlayStation, MP1st reports, citing several developer CVs. One of the sourced resumes belongs to a designer said to be working on the next entry in the Gears of War franchise, E-Day, which lists the PS5 as one of the project’s target platforms. This turn of events aligns with recent rumors about a PlayStation version of Gears of War: E-Day, which have been in circulation since mid-2024. A prequel to the original trilogy, E-Day is presently targeting a 2026 launch but is waiting for a specific release date. The resume cited in the new report does not indicate whether the game will be a day-one PS5 title.
State of Decay 3 Reportedly Also in Development for PS5
Similarly, a developer from Undead Labs recently named the PS5 as one of the target platforms for the third mainline State of Decay game in their online resume. Originally planned for release this year, the title has reportedly been delayed to 2026 and currently lacks a firm launch date. The newly surfaced resume doesn’t clarify whether the game is planned to have a same-day multi-platform launch or arrive on the PS5 later, like what happened with Indiana Jones and the Great Circle earlier in 2025.

Much like State of Decay, the Gears of War series has yet to debut on PlayStation. But unlike Undead Labs’ franchise, Microsoft has already officially confirmed that it will, which happened in May 2025, when it announced Gears of War: Reloaded. The (second) remaster of the original series entry will have a day-one PS5 release on August 26.
Several more Xbox games are currently rumored to be planned for multi-platform ports. These include Avowed, South of Midnight, Starfield, and Microsoft Flight Simulator, as well as Halo: The Master Chief Collection and Rare Replay.
